For starters, my name is John Manolopoulos. In May of 2021 I was able to complete my Bachelors of Science in Finance, with a minor in Data Analytics. While my passion for Finance evolved, the pursuit of my minor is what rekindled a long lost love for programming. After having worked various Finance Internships, I was able to solidify my passion wasn’t for the aforementioned topics. The reason I love Finance and Programming is because they’re a means to create or build something that holds value.
After graduation I spent time working in strictly financial roles, which is when it dawned on me that Finance and Computer Science are the perfect pair, and when combined the possibilities are endless. How can I pursue my passion for both with only a finance degree? That is the same question I asked myself after getting turned down for multiple FinTech roles. My first thought was to obtain a Masters in Computer Science, which proved futile as I did not meet the qualifications for admission (you need a Bachelors in Computer Science.) Thus, my current journey was born. After all these experiences I finally took the jump and enrolled in an Undergraduate program for Computer Science. Now as a Computer Science student working in Finance, I have been able to increase efficiencies and implement processes that would never have been possible had I not pursued my Computer Science Degree. What was a seemingly streamlined future has now been burst wide open, and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store.
